Hot Weather Crafting

With the weather being sooooo very hot I have not been able to pick up the knitting needles and decided the next best thing would be to do a bit of crocheting. With Christmas just around the corner and having decided a long time back that I would try to have a handmade christmas this year what better than a few lacey items for presents.

Daisy Chain Centrepiece

Granduer Tablecloth

I have a few other homemade gifts ready for christmas and I will post these later.

All my swap presents have been carefully wrapped and posted off to their lucky partner.

Back at long last

I have been away from blog land for sooooo long.

I have been really busy with our local show, then after that I had a few family problems that had to be sorted out. Everything is now back to normal (sort of).

My wash cloth arrived in the post and I was so excited to receive my beautiful gift.

I just love the wash cloths and seeds and also the beautiful cards I was given. Thank you soooo much.

What a View

This is the view from my front verandah. How LUCKY am I to wake up every morning to such a wonderful view.

As the seasons change the view changes. I never get bored with looking out side. Everyday I see something different, nothing stays the same.

My verandah is the perfect spot to enjoy an early morning cuppa.
Spring is definitely in the air

My garden is beginning to show signs of spring. I have some beautiful colors starting to creep into my garden.

My "Blue Pacifica" is just starting to bloom. I grew this tree from a tiny shrub and I am so proud of the fact that it has grown so big and beautiful. I just love it!!!

My garden is a work in progress. I don't have a green thumb and my gardening method is the "let's see what happens" method. Sometimes I have a successes, like my Blue Pacifica and other times (too many to mention) I have failures. But on the whole I love my garden and I love to potter around in it. I especially love to spend time in my garden in the spring.

The weather is still a little cool here even for spring. The temperature was about 1 degrees this morning, but the days have been absolutely beautiful.

DH is going to help with my vege patch this weekend. Because I am now moving my vege patch from it's original position DH is going to do all the hard work in preparing the patch and putting a fence around the vege patch to stop my little pets getting into it. After all the hard work I will be preparing the soil for all my little seedlings I have planted.

Spring is such a wonderful time of year, don't you agree?

Even if you don't have a lot of time (like me) spring is just so insprational.

A Little bit of Spring

About 2 months ago I planted some seedlings in little pots hoping for an early start on my spring vege patch. With the weather being so cold and frosty and some unexpected rain I didn't go near my little seeds until the weekend and to my surprise I had some very healthy looking seedlings and some not so healthy ones.

I also noticed that with the warmer weather I have a little splash of color in my garden.

Hopefully the weather will start to warm up soon as I have a lot of preparation to do to get my vege patch up and running.

I have been doing a little bit of sewing and so far I have created a little doll. I purchased this kit from Golly J and I just love her. As you can see she has yet to have her face, but I will be doing that on the weekend.

I also made this cute little bag. I found the pattern in an old Country Threads magazine I had. BG helped me pick out the color scheme and I think she did a great job on her colors. The front has a pocket and there is a pocket inside.

Another creation was this apron. I used some fabric from my stash and drew up a pattern and off I went. BG wants to use this for her own.

The link to the pattern book link for the little beanie didn't work so here it is. So sorry, it must have been the cyber space gremlin.

I have been knitting and have created some little lovelies, i will post about these next time.

Knitting at Night

As I have said in an earlier post, I am knitting for our Local Agricultural Show. I have been knitting at night. I just love to knit at night while watching T.V. I find knitting to be relaxing and I get a great deal of satisfaction on completing a project.

Frilly Tea Cosy

Maroon Tea Cosy

Lacey Coat Hanger

I have to finish off the coat hanger yet. Add some ribbon. I have also made a crochet dark blue and light blue striped Tea Cosy, a crochet bag and I am in the process of knitting a scarf from here.

I got the Tea Cosy patterns from here and the Coat Hanger Pattern from here.

These 2 books are just GREAT!!.

Surprise Mail

What a wonderful surprise I received in the mail yesterday. I received my Washcloth Swap parcel.

I was so excited when I received the parcel and I couldn't wait to open it. What wonderful goodies were inside. . I just love, love all the goodies you so lovingly made.

The soap smells absolutely beautiful and I just love the washcloths. the colours are wonderful.

Thank you so, so much. The chocolates will not last long, I will have to share with DH & BG, but never mind.

I will be posting my Washcloth Swap Parcel out on Monday. I have finished and I will be wrapping up all the goodies this weekend.

I have had such a busy week. I have been doing some knitting and sewing in between going to work and keeping house.

I am getting ready for our Annual Agricultural Show, which is held in October. I will be using my Show projects for Xmas presents and birthday gifts. I think by doing all this crafting I will be ready for Xmas on time this year, lol.

This year I want to give all homemade gifts, I think this is more personal and I also love receiving homemade gifts. Homemade seems to have a special feel to it. Don't you agree?

Every year I say I am going to be ready for Xmas and I am going to start getting
ready early, but I never seem to get there.
Hopefully I will be organised early this year!!!!!!!

So far my knitting projects have included a birthday beanie and
fingerless mittens for Bayley (my little 2 year old Angel)
for his birthday.

I also knitted this ever so cute beanie for one of my granddaughters (can't tell which one as it is a surprise)

I got the pattern for both of these from this book. I love this book, it has so many beautiful quick knits in it.

I have also knitted another washcloth to add to my collection. I just love washcloths and this one was a quick knit. I got the pattern for this one from here

You can't see the colour very well in this picture,
but it is a beautiful deep red and is such
a lovely soft washcloth. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have also been doing a little sewing on my Merry-Go-Round Quilt.

I have sewn all the triangles together into half hexagons and have
laid them all out on my floor.

I have been going in everyday and changing the hexagon
combinations around trying get a colour combination
together that I like.

I keep changing the combination, I have even asked
DH & BG for their input,
but all I get from them is "It looks good to me".

I guess I will have to soon settle on a combination.

I will post some pictures this week and maybe somebody
will be able to help me!!!!!!

I whipped this little pincushion up today.

I got the pattern from here.

It was super easy and looks so cute.
